President Obama True to His Environmental Promises

By NunoXEI • Feb 11th, 2009 • Category: Blog

There has never been a more important presidency in American history as the current one. Throughout President Obama’s candidate speeches it was evident that one of the changes he was determined to bring to the United States was to begin to take steps towards a greener, more environmentally friendly, future.

When one considers the reluctance of the US to be anything close to a friend of ally against environmental policies on a world affecting scale, it’s tough to imagine President Obama has an easy path to walk ahead. Well, difficulties aside, it really DOES begin with actually taking the steps! [Below Points gathered from Globe-Net.com]

  • He signed an executive order directing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to re-examine whether states should be allowed to impose their own tougher auto emission standards.
  • He has also announced a task force with a first order of business to find ways to create new jobs that pay well; reduce pollution; and lessen America’s reliance on foreign oil.
  • He has ordered quicker and new efforts to make appliances more energy efficient.  The thinking is that more energy efficient appliances like stoves, lamps, dishwashers, washers and dryers will save consumers money and help with the stimulus of the economy.
