Are you interested in the local environmental movement and what it has to offer? Do you have ideas for blog posts, articles, interviews or case studies that you’d like the opportunity to share with your community and develop your written communication capacity? The Green Rocket: KW is open for submissions from bloggers and writers from the KW Community to develop content on sustainable topics in Kitchener-Waterloo and the surrounding areas.

If you have a one-time idea or submission, the editorial team is always interested in your input!   If you’re interested in a more frequent set of contributions or becoming a writer on our executive team, we have great opportunities available.  The editorial team is integral to maintaining the integrity and credibility information provided by reviewing submissions and working with the writers to ensure grammatical and subject quality.

The kind of content we’re looking for:

• Interviews: Have you been speaking to the right people?  We would like to inspire others by sharing how they got to where they are with a context on sustainability & the community!
• Articles: These are unique “green” articles about relevant topics to the KW Area and surrounding regions. Primary focus should be articles that support KW’s role in the “green” movement and inspire community awareness and involvement.
• Case Studies: If you are a business, an NPO, a social group or a club, etc, and have any case study documenting observations relevant to KW and the “green” movement, we’d love to share them with interested individuals.
• Blog Content: – including community news – This can be news gathered by being present at events or news summaries gathered from other local sources. It is absolutely important to refer to the original source of the news if the latter is done.
• Media: – ie. videos: Do you have a camera and love to film things? If you capture anything on tape and it’s on YouTube or similar services, these would be great content additions for the site! We also welcome relevant pictures and other forms of media with explanations or analysis where appropriate.
• Anything Else: Did we miss something? Surprise us!

As a community-focused project, The Green Rocket: KW is interested in all ideas and submissions relating to any aspect of the local, regional and global sustainability movement.  This is a vast field and we are open to all perspectives and elements of sustainability – you can use our existing content as a guideline, or send us your unique ideas!

Submissions can range from short blog observations of a few paragraphs, to detailed and researched articles on a relevant topic.  It’s important that whatever is submitted is as clean and grammatically correct as possible.

What you can expect from us:

With the focus of community awareness, resource utilization and interconnectivity, we want to push awareness concerning anything “green” related happening in the KW Region. We will do our best to make sure any submitted content looks great and helps you to achieve any personal goals or community support you intend, while maintaining the site’s professional mandate and credibility.

As a not-for-profit project in early development, submissions are voluntary at the moment and repaid with our assistance in creating opportunities for portfolio building and skill development and reference as a contributor on the project.  There are no limits to how many times a writer can submit content.
