Environmental Database

The Green Rocket: KW strives to offer quality information in an extensive database supporting the sustainability movement within the community.  We’ve categorized our content as follows: (but we are always open to input for content outside of these categories!  Please see our writer page for more information)

Interviews:

Interviews are a primary resource for uniting individuals, organizations and businesses throughout the community.  In our interviews we focus less on what the candidates do, but more on how they got there and why it is important in a sustainability/community context.  This enables candidates to speak to the community of readers and offer them information, advice and inspiration on how to take their own form of action or be involved.

Research, Academic-based articles & other Publications:

These are pillars; credible information resources, such as our popular series from the main Green Rocket site, entitled How to Properly Interpret Statistics.  With regards to the KW Local site, these articles will take form towards a local perspective, for example on topics of sustainable transportation, local policy, etc., or alternatively the academic proponent can include review or publication of a case study and/or other research, especially those from surrounding academic institutions.

Blog

This will focus on both a local community news section as well as information from a global aspect.  The blog category maintains the editorial credibility of an article, but is not restricted to the unbiased and researched/referenced information presentation of an academic-based article.  Information will include: a news-story, event review, video, or opinion piece on any relevant environmental topic within the local/global sector.

Community Calendar

As an area to aggregate and support local environmental events, businesses and organizations, the Community Calendar will act as a calendar for all appropriate events around the area.

Community Resource Directory

The  Resource Directory will have the contact information and description of relevant environmental contacts – people, organizations, businesses, and beyond.  This can include anything from local eco-conscious stores to environmental groups and associations.  Interested parties can apply to be listed free of charge, and will be reviewed by the editorial team.
