Wilfred Laurier’s Sustainability Office is conducting a sustainability assessment of the Waterloo, Kitchener and Brantford campuses, using the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) developed by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, to help advance their efforts to become a recognized leader in environmental sustainability.
STARS is an international organization that provides resources, professional development and a network of support for colleges and universities wanting to create a more sustainable future.

Green Opinion: Clean Water Should be a Priority

Jinelle Pietreder, a 21-year-old entrepreneur, and a global studies and business student at Wilfrid Laurier University, runs her business, SOUL standing for “Show Our United Love”, with gratuitous socially responsible business ethics and goals. Her business: Making purses out of those candy wrappers, thousands and thousands of them!
It all started because she became a distributor for Xocai chocolate a few years ago. It is a company based in Reno, Nevada, which bills itself as a healthy chocolate company. The bite-sized nuggets come in shiny gold, blue and dark brown wrappers.
